Espresso Workshop Britomart is located in the Britomart Precinct of Auckland's CBD, close to the waterfront and good public transport options, is open 7 days per week between the hours of 7am to 3.30pm.

About the role

The role is full time (32 to 40 hours per week) working within a team of coffee professionals, the ideal candidate will have high service standards, effective management skills, be a great communicator, have a commitment to serving fantastic coffee and will have great customer engagement.

We require candidates to be able to undertake all tasks involved in the management of a cafe operation including:
  • Maintaining a thriving café, providing a suitable environment for customers to order efficiently, feel looked after and enjoy the products we serve.
  • Ensuring the customer service of the team is undertaken to a high standard and where customer issues arise ensure you take the lead in resolving customer concerns.
  • Ensuring the preparation and service of our coffee and food menu is undertaken with a complete focus on quality, efficiency and to the highest standards of presentation.
  • Ensuring a supportive team culture alongside a productive work environment.
  • Ensuring the preparation of all food and beverages is to the standards required and in accordance with Food Hygiene regulations and our established Food Control Plan.
  • Undertake ongoing review and maintenance of our Food Control Plan.
  • Work with the owner to develop and edit the food and beverage menu. Ensure effective communication in transferring new menu information or procedures to all staff.
  • Effective stock management, ensuring fulfilment of orders, the correct rotation and labelling of stock, and review of minimum/maximum stock levels.
  • Ensuring all point of sale transactions are accurately recorded and the daily cash up settlements balance.
  • Manage the point of sales software to ensure the POS data is correct and it is allowing for orders to be processed efficiently.
  • Complete the weekly sales data alongside weekly purchasing invoices, report key information and prepare for review and filing.
  • Undertake monthly financial analysis of the café operation including making adjustments to purchasing and resourcing of the operation to ensure the continued financial performance of the business. Analyse sales figures to determine the trends in turnover, therefore enabling better forecasting and strategic decision making.
  • Interviewing new employees when new staff are required, selecting candidates and training new staff. Maintain an effective working partnership with all staff, striving to create a dynamic team environment.
  • Arrange ongoing or top-up staff training where required.
  • Preparing and managing the weekly roster. Handling leave requests from staff and handling any employment issues that arise in consultation with the owner.

Work Experience & Qualifications

Candidates must have at least 3 years of café management experience (or a senior position which included management tasks within a café) OR an appropriate NZQF Diploma qualification.

Remuneration $30 to $35 per hour

Candidates MUST be a permanent NZ resident or NZ citizen.
