Who youre working with

Our client is a vital national organisation that has supported the daily lives of Kiwis for generations. With a major expansion underway, and a new facility in Central Auckland, they require additional Maintenance Technicians to join their established and experienced team to perform preventative and reactive maintenance on site which runs 24/7.

The Role

Working as part of the Engineering Services Team, the main purpose of the role is to maximise machine availability and ensure it meets operational needs. This is a hands-on role where you will utilise your mechanical fault-finding skills to resolve breakdowns in a timely manner.

Your common sense and abilities to think on your feet is imperative.

By championing a continuous improvement mindset, you will participate actively within the engineering team and with operational staff to identify area for performance improvement in the machine processes, communication with process leads regarding machine performance, reliability, availability and safety.

Some of the responsibilities include:
  • Completes required machine maintenance effectively and on time
  • Diagnoses and repairs machine faults in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Ensures that spare parts inventory levels are maintained at agreed quantities and that inventory management procedures are followed
  • Participates positively and constructively as a team. Works with other stakeholders in the service chain on initiatives to achieve improvements in business performance.
  • Identifies trends and opportunities for improvement in machine performance and takes action to solve issues which are constraining services and business performance.
  • Provides coaching, on the job training, checking and verification of tasks completed for new and Junior Technicians.
  • Provides information and practical training to operations staff on the correct use of the machinery to minimize faults or damage.
The requirements are
  • A formal mechanical qualification
  • Proven, reputable work experience in a similar role involving diagnostics and fault-finding in a production or industrial environment with automated equipment.
  • Hands-on mechanical fitting skills with conveyors, shafts, gearboxes, etc.
  • CMMS experience is desirable
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal
  • Health and safety conscious
  • Works well as a team, is highly reliable, has common sense, a strong work ethic and is calm by nature when things get stressful.
  • Can work a rotating roster across day and night shifts essential.

On offer is a generous salary between $90k to $95k base plus 4% KiwiSaver. This is a 12-hour rotating shift between 6am and 6pm, 6pm and 6am on a 4-week rotating roster pattern. The bonus is a FULL WEEK off every 4 weeks. No expense is spared by our client to ensure you, and the team are fully equipped with the best to get the job done, all Tools of Trade are supplied onsite.
