This role would be based in Tauranga. It will involve some travel across the wider Bay of Plenty/ Lakes region, supporting disabled people/ Tangata Whaikaha and their whānau to live self-determined, meaningful lives.As a Disability Support Services Coordinator, you will meet with disabled people/ Tangata Whaikaha in a range of settings, to explore what a good life looks like for them and to allocate supports to minimise disabling barriers they may experience.

You will understand the barriers disabled people face and be committed to supporting self-determination and dignity through every interaction.You will demonstrate the following competenciesExperience working with or alongside disabled people and their whānau.Relevant experience in the disability sector, social services or community developmentWhilst a relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, experience the sector is also valued.Strong knowledge of local communities, services, and networks.Ability to lead guided conversations to gain deep understanding of individual situations to develop plans to guide the allocating of appropriate funding.Excellent time management, literacy and numeracy and computer skills- experience with Word, Excel, One Note and Teams would be preferredIt will be advantageous, but not essential, if you have some understanding of how the MSD Disability Support Services system works.People to whakapapa to this rohe and those with lived experience of disability are particularly encouraged to apply, even if you feel you may not meet all the above criteria.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
