A minimum of 32 Hours per week
- Shifts include: AM shifts 0645am 3:15pm PM shifts 2:15pm – 10:45pm, Night shifts 10:30pm – 7:00am and Weekends.
- A minimum hourly rate of $28.25- $29.66
As a Health Care Assistant at Makoha Tauranga, each day will always present you with something new. Most importantly, you will be making a big difference in our resident’s day wh. Work together as part of a dedicated, caring and supportive team with up to 25 residents and their whanau / family.
Your duties will include:- To deliver care safely, efficiently, and effectively by prioritising attendance to residents needs and delivering the best care possible according to duty schedules, and the nursing procedure manuals.
- Work collaboratively to implement and support a person-centred approach for a resident with complex needs and to maximise their independence.
- Take a leadership role and work within the responsibilities and boundaries of their role.
- Ensure that all routine cares are delivered as per resident’s care plans including, showering, dressing, mobilising, grooming and nutritional assistance.
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behaviour and observe residents’ privacy, dignity, comfort & confidentiality.
- Being a good communicator with Residents and staff. Observe and report any changes in the resident’s condition including vital signs.
- To be an effective team worker with consideration for other employees. It is required that reports are accurate and concise. The role of Healthcare Care Assistant is to be flexible, show initiative and be tolerant and understanding when duties are busy.
- To recognise and respond to change.
- Attendance and a positive contribution to staff meetings and mandatory training is required as well as participating in annual performance appraisals.
- Adhere to Health and Safety Policies. Report any hazards and incidents and accidents. Cooperate with any investigations. Attend relevant training.
- To follow sound basic hygiene and infection control principles particularly in relation to hand hygiene.
- To recognise and report risks and/or changes in a person and/or family/whanau.
- A Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (or equivalent qualification)with clinical experience outside of educational placements in NZ or a minimum of 24 months of relevant experience required (overseas experience accepted).
- Experience with medication administration or the ability to complete training required for medication administration competency.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate with residents, their families and fellow team members.
- Be familiar with computers and able to learn new systems as required.
- Fortnightly pay days
- Weekend Allowance of $2.00 per hour.
- Night Shift Allowance $10 per shift.
- 10 days of sick leave after 6 months of employment, then annually thereafter
- 4 weeks of paid Annual Leave
