Infectious Diseases trainees will be exposed to a wide range of complex clinical presentations and will have exposure to community and public health settings.The speciality of infectious diseases is based on clinical expertise as opposed to the use of more practical procedural or technical skills.A key requirement of their role is the need to ensure that they keep up to date with global developments in infectious diseases and their potential impact within the local community.
Medicine Registrar RunsInfectious Diseases Registrar runs in the Auckland region are six months in length, following which you may rotate into a different run.All runs are accredited for RACP Advanced Training in the Auckland region; provision of further runs beyond the initial six month allocation is subject to a competitive process due to limited training capacity.

For those completing the exam later this year and should you not pass the exam, you will no longer be eligible for advanced training position and you may be considered for a run allocation.· Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Support and assistance with this process is provided.Six month allocations for those interested in Infectious Diseases experience as part of their training in General Medicine or speciality training· Must have one year experience as a Medicine Registrar or equivalent from another college.· Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
