Field Service Technician (Diesel Mechanic)

Our client is a NZ pioneer with 75+ years of success in the provision and servicing of new and used leading brand, heavy equipment.

Backed by its own dedicated product support and onsite workshops, the focus is on their high standard of servicing new and used construction equipment across brands NZ wide with a range of products.

With presents in New Zealand, Oceania and into the US, the company is continuing to grow and now looking for a field service diesel technician to join their service team.

The position entails mechanical repairs both in the workshop and in the field. Also, when required, pre-delivery tests for sold, new and used equipment.

What you’ll do
  • 4 years + experience servicing earthmoving equipment.
  • Service, repair and maintenance of all types of diesel earthmoving and road construction equipment.
  • Use hand, machine and welding equipment to manufacture or repair parts
  • Detect & diagnose mechanical faults on a wide range of equipment
  • OEM Experience - Overhaul, dismantle and rebuild machine components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Operate plant and equipment.
  • Work with management, team, internal and external clients to plan servicing and maintenance activities.
  • Complete call outs after hours as required by mutual consent.
  • Work with or supervise contractors on site.
  • Complete warranty repairs to manufacturer’s specifications
You will be
  • A self-starter

  • Able to diagnose faults and carry out repairs

  • Able to work with minimum supervision
You will need
  • 3 years' experience in the Heavy Diesel trade, completing mechanical repairs on earth moving equipment or similar.
  • Full, non-restricted driver license with Classes 1 – 5, W,T,R and F endorsements (an advantage not requirement) and or HT Licence
  • Trade Certified Diesel Mechanic or A Grade heady duty equipment mechanic.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to heavy duty construction equipment .
  • Working knowledge of welding, engineering and painting.
  • Focus on health and safety in the workplace.
