Head Coach – Pakuranga Tennis Club
The Head Coach will lead all coaching operations at Pakuranga Tennis Club. This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and overseeing tennis programmes for juniors, adults, and competitive players, developing coaching staff, and ensuring high standards of player development and club growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgramme Design & Delivery
Plan, organise, and deliver coaching programmes for all levels: beginners, intermediates, advanced, and adult players.
Develop seasonal training plans with clear skill progressions and objectives.Monitor, evaluate, and refine programmes based on player performance and feedback.
Leadership & Staff ManagementRecruit, mentor, and supervise coaching staff and assistants.
Ensure coaches deliver consistent, safe, and high-quality coaching.
Conduct regular professional development sessions and performance reviews.
Player Development & Performance PathwayIdentify talented players and support their progression to competitive/interclub levels.
Develop individual coaching plans focusing on technique, tactics, fitness, and mental preparation.
Track and report player progress regularly.
Club Operations & AdministrationManage the coaching calendar, court scheduling, holiday programmes, and camps.
Oversee equipment, court use, and programme administration.
Report to club management on programme outcomes, participation, and growth opportunities.
Community EngagementPromote club programmes to attract new members, including school and community outreach initiatives.
Health, Safety & ComplianceMaintain a safe, inclusive, and child-protected environment.
Ensure all coaching staff comply with relevant health, safety, and child protection standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:
NZQF Level 4 in Sport Coaching, Physical Education, or equivalent.Tennis coaching certification recognized by Tennis NZ or equivalent.
First Aid certification.
Police vetting / Working with Children Check.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant tennis coaching experienceExperience supervising coaches and managing programmes is highly desirable.
Demonstrated success in player development, including moving players through skill levels or into competition.
Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to plan, schedule, and manage multiple programmes simultaneously.Knowledge of player development pathways and modern coaching techniques.
Ability to foster a positive, inclusive club culture.
Working ConditionsFull-time role with flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Hands-on coaching combined with programme planning and administration.
Occasional travel to tournaments or interclub matches may be required.

Probation: 3 months
