About the RoleThe role provides specialist nursing care, support and advice for caregivers around assessment, education, evaluation and negotiated planning of care for their babies in a residential environment.Mothercraft Nurses work closely with the multidisciplinary team of Dietitians, Social Workers, Kaitiaki, Perinatal Mental Health Nurse, Lactation Consultants Speech Language Therapists and Paediatricians.The successful applicant will be supported to achieve this byA comprehensive orientation to the roleSupport from colleagues to develop in the roleEducational opportunities as necessaryOpportunities to develop advanced nursing skillsTraining to use systems / programmes that are required by the service Click here to view the position description.

About the TeamWe have a 5 bedded unit providing a 5 day inpatient service for infants from birth up to approximately 1 year of age providing support & education for parents and babies experiencing issues such as feeding difficulties, reflux, unsettled/irritable babies, poor weight gain, sleep issues.
We also assist with transitioning babies from NICU where parents need extra support before discharge and support with NG tube weaning.We also provide support for families experiencing Postnatal depression/anxiety which impacts the care of the infant.
