- $110,210 As an Acute Neuro Occupational Therapist at Wellington Hospital, your day is a dynamic blend of rapid assessment, intervention, and collaborative care.
You'll begin by reviewing new admissions and existing caseloads, prioritising patients with acute neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological conditions.
Your focus will be on assessing their immediate functional abilities, including self-care, mobility, cognition, and perception, to facilitate early rehabilitation and safe discharge planning.Working within a fast-paced multidisciplinary team, you'll engage closely with medical specialists, physiotherapists, speech-language therapists, allied health assistants nurses.
Your interventions will be tailored to the acute phase, often involving quick, functional treatments like bed mobility, initial self-care retraining, and recommending immediate equipment needs.You'll play a crucial role in educating patients and their whānau about their condition and potential future rehabilitation pathways, ensuring a smooth transition to the next stage of recovery, whether that's home with community support or further inpatient rehabilitation.About the Team/Service/Location The Wellington Occupational Therapy Team at Wellington Regional Hospital, the region's only Tertiary Hospital, is a team of 20 strong, including district wide rotational positions.
We primarily work in the inpatient setting, focusing on acute assessment and treatment to facilitate successful discharges and optimize hospital flow.The clinical team on the neuro ward is a high-functioning unit, focused on achieving the best patient outcomes.

We are focused on actively developing our service by application of evidence-based practices and continuous learning.Working alongside a strong allied health workforce, we share an office space with Speech-Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, and Social Workers, all supported by a dedicated team of Allied Health Assistants.
