Stock Manager

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Stock Manager to join the team at Nithdale Station – a 1600ha family-owned Sheep, Beef & Stud operation just 15 minutes from Gore. With approximately 17,000su across a mix of intensive flats and rolling hill country, we’re focused on performance, innovation, and teamwork.

This role is a step up from your typical Stock Manager position – you’ll play a key part in decision-making, day-to-day operations, and leadership alongside our Operations Manager.

We’re after someone who:

Has solid stock management experience, ideally across sheep, cattle, and stud systems

Brings strong animal husbandry and stockmanship (with 4+ well-controlled dogs)

Is confident leading a team and communicating clearly

Has great time management, initiative, and a can-do attitude

Is comfortable with record-keeping, planning tools, and basic farm tech

Understands H&S and leads by example

Holds a full NZ driver’s licence

Your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing daily livestock activities and seasonal planning

Implementing grazing rotations and animal health plans

Supporting and mentoring junior staff

Contributing to farm development and productivity goals

Assisting with maintenance, fencing, and occasional tractor work
