- on fellowship that bridges the gap to independent consultant practice.
We perform a wide range of benign and malignant operations.

Heavy operative exposure every week- 03 - 4 elective theatre lists
- 01 endoscopy list
- 02 outpatient clinics (benign, malignant bariatric)
- 10 - 15 oesophagectomies (totally minimally invasive)
- 10 - 15 gastrectomies
- 30 complex hiatal/fundoplication procedures
- 30 bariatric operations (primary revisional)
- 20 - 25 liver resections
- 10 - 15 pancreaticoduodenectomies
- 10 - 15 distal/central pancreatectomies
- 10 splenectomies
- Major complex hernias, acute and elective general surgery
- >200 major cases logged, most being as a primary operator
- Regional UGI Cancer MDM (weekly)
- Bariatric MDM (weekly)
- Radiology Meeting (weekly)
- Grand Round (weekly)
- Departmental MM audit meeting (weekly)
- One audit/research project with presentation
- Facilitate weekly registrar teaching, simulation journal club
- Once weekly after hours general surgery oncall
- Once every 6 weeks general surgery weekend oncall
- Participating in UGI emergencies is optional, but provides great learning opportunities
About the Team/Service/ Location
Team Structure- Consultants: 5 subspecialist surgeons (OG, HPB Bariatric)
- RMOs: 2 SET Registrars, 2 Non - training Registrars, 2 House Officers
- Allied Health: 3 Clinical Nurse Specialists (OG HPB Bariatric), Dietitian and clinical Psychologist.
- time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region.
- Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua
- as well as the Kapiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRACS or equivalent to be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training
