Pharmacist
About the Role Please note that this role is only available for current Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora staff. Any non-Te Whatu Ora applications will be declined.We are currently seeking a pharmacy technician to help support our motivated team in the Cancer Services area at Wellington Hospital.
This position will involve working alongside the cancer services pharmacists in providing technical support in both the inpatient and outpatient areas. Tasks and duties would include dispensing and organising prescriptions for cancer and haematology patients, utilising specialist computer systems, such as MOSAIQ (the electronic prescribing platform used in this area) and Celgene (the computer program associated with lenalidomide and thalidomide prescriptions) and supporting the inpatient cancer services pharmacist with stock management and patient counselling.
You will also be involved in the processing of outpatient and inpatient charts, aseptic compounding, delivering medicines and acting as a key point of communication between cancer services and pharmacy. There would also be an expectation of being accountable for stock management of compassionate supply medications for cancer services.About the Team/Service Location The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers.
We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary & logistics service, and a quality & risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital & Coast Hospitals (Wellington & Kenepuru).Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District. Our teams value professional growth, and emphasizes clinical development and medicines optimization for our patients.About you This position would be suitable for someone with hospital pharmacy experience who has a proven ability to work autonomously.
It is essential that the successful candidate holds a New Zealand Certificate in Pharmacy (Pharmacy Technician) level 5.
