We are a busy, family-owned automotive workshop of 6 staff who have been serving the North Shore and beyond for over 25 years.

Due to continual growth, we are looking for experienced mechanics/technicians/WOF inspectors. We do not have any entry level/apprentice positions at this stage.

In this role you would report to the workshop manager and be able to assist them in overseeing the on-tools operations of other staff, so some people management skills would be a plus. The main day to day requirements in this role are to be able to repair, service and inspect cars and light commercials.

The MOST important attributes are an ability to problem solve, use initiative and think for yourself. Ideal candidates would possess the following:

  • At least 3 years continuous experience servicing and repairing cars and light commercials
  • NZ trade qualification preferred, or the ability to prove competency and experience
  • Ability to educate and help our apprentices on tricky jobs when required
  • Ability to assist workshop manager in workload planning and delivering work on time
  • AVI/WOF authority, or the ability to obtain it soon
  • Clean NZ drivers licence
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Be punctual, reliable and self-motivated
  • Own set of adequate hand tools to carry out common workshop tasks
  • Ability to diagnose faults and use scan tools
  • Ability to work to deadlines, work to productivity targets and identify opportunities to up-sell additional work where required
  • Overall good level of competency and plenty of initiative.
  • Tyre, wheel alignment and aircon experience beneficial but not essential

In return, you will receive:

  • A generous salary to be negotiated based on skills and experience
  • A fun, challenging work environment with a great team
  • Ongoing training/development both internally and externally
  • Fixed hour working week, currently Monday to Friday 8-4.30 with the potential to increase hours
  • Career growth potential for the right candidate
  • Great variety of work; in a working week you could be coding in parts on a late model euro, fitting a wheel bearing to a mid 90s car, servicing a fleets late model utes or replacing a clutch etc.

If this sounds like you, please apply ASAP as we would love to hear from you!
