Are you a skilled technician looking for a fresh challenge with a busy, well-established workshop?

Timaru Motors has proudly been part of the South Canterbury community for over 90 years — we are truly embedded in the DNA of our region. With a strong mix of Ford and Mazda vehicles on the road and continued growth across the business, our workshop is busier than ever.

We’re on the lookout for a Qualified Automotive Technician to join our team — someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys problem solving, and wants to be part of a team that backs each other.

What the job involves:

  • Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and dealership standards

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tyre rotations, brake repairs, and fluid replacements
  • Maintain accurate records of all services and repairs performed, ensuring proper documentation
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques through continuous learning and training
  • Collaborate with the service team to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently, meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs and recommendations clearly and addressing customer concerns
  • Adhere to health & safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment

What you’ll bring:

  • Qualified Automotive Technician (NZ recognised)
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Full, clean NZ driver licence
  • WOF Inspector Authority is an advantage, but not essential

What we offer:

  • Competitive remuneration based on experience
  • Ongoing training and development through Ford and Mazda
  • A modern, well-equipped workshop
  • Supportive team environment with a strong culture
  • A secure, full-time role with a respected local dealership
