Chef de Partie
The cafe and bar are both indoors and outdoors set amongst mature trees and boasts an extensive menu, with the salad ingredients and garnishes grown onsite in our organic market garden, the beer and wine served is brewed and grown locally around the Nelson region.
About the role:
- Full-time, permanent work with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week
- Your ordinary hours of work will be 30 hours per week, normally worked between 5 am to 11 pm Mon-Sun, or at times agreed between us to meet the needs of the business up to a maximum of 60 hours per week.
- Must be able to multitask in a high-pressure environment
- Assisting with food preparation under the direction of senior Chefs
- Maintaining consistency and high quality of food preparation throughout service
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the café in accordance with requirements
- Positively and effectively contributing to the TOAD Hall team culture
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or a NZ Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) or equivalent in a busy kitchen environment.
- Proven skills in food preparation, presentation and working as part of a team.
- Ability to organize and manage own section efficiently.
- Effective communicator with a positive attitude.
- Flexible and able to work rostered shifts, including weekends and evenings.
- Assist with onboarding new kitchen team members, ensuring they understand their role.
- Ensure all food prepared in your section meets presentation and timing standards.
- Communicate and coordinate with FOH teams as required to deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Assist with any customer requests relating to the kitchen when needed.
- Follow and uphold Workplace Health and Safety standards within your section.
- Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met at all times (in line with TDC Food Control Plan / CHOMP).
- Assist in promoting and complying with Health and Safety and food safety requirements with the team.
- Prepare and cook menu items to the required standard and portion size as directed by the Head Chef / Sous Chef.
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef with menu preparation and new dish ideas.
- Communicate with FOH as required during service.
- Efficiently run your assigned section, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and to the required standard.
- Assist with ordering or stock rotation as directed by the Sous Chef or Head Chef.
- Permanent contracts are offered.
