The Public Health Communications Senior Advisor is a key member of the Te Manawa Taki Regional team and requires a proven and experienced communications professional to help manage internal and external communications functions across the region, and act as the as the Public Information Management (PIM) in emergency response structures.
This is a key regional leadership role in enabling Health NZ to inform and engage with its communities, build its reputation, manage risk and be successful in its plans through creating and delivering effective and engaging communications content.
This role has a travel requirement across the Te Manawa Taki region.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

Your understanding of the health sector, and established networks, will enable you to hit the ground running in this role. You are someone able to demonstrate mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present effectively, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes.Relevant Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, marketing public relations or media management 3+ years senior communications experience in public health, the health or related sectors Experience in handling technical and clinical information Proven expertise in use of social media, and website platforms Experience in applying critical thinking, using sound judgment to develop options and knowledge of the machinery of government, and policy development, is preferable Demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to, the specific relationship under te Tiriti o Waitangi, and HNZ's role in improving outcomes for iwi and Māori communities.
