Plastic Technician and Plant Operator - Dargaville

Pay Range: $29.66 to $35 per hour
Days: Monday to Friday (with occasional weekend work if required)
Hours: Guaranteed at least 30 hours per week

They are seeking an experienced and reliable Plastic Technician and Plant Operator to join their close-knit and safety-focused operations team based in either Kerikeri or Rangiora.
Key Responsibilities:As a Plastic Technician and Plant Operator, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of plastic manufacturing equipment.
Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Operating manufacturing equipment such as resin blenders, extruders, palletisers, dryers, and grinding mills
- Running rotational moulding ovens and associated machinery
- Welding and fabricating with PE extruder welders, PE sheet butt welders, and PE pipe welders
- Handling raw materials and recording daily production outputs
- Tracking material and finished goods through chain of custody
- Conducting trimming, assembly, and quality checks on finished goods
- Performing routine cleaning, maintenance, and operator checks on machinery
- Identifying and resolving faults, and assisting the maintenance team where required
- Adhering to all safety, quality, and environmental standards
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum of three years' relevant experience in plastics manufacturing, plant operations, or a similar industrial environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of production outcomes
- Solid problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude to maintenance and process improvements
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 25kg
- Flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Must have a clean police record with no charges pending
