- Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the roleThis role has been specially designed to provide Senior House Officers who are interested in a career in Orthopaedics but who consider they need a little more Orthopaedic experience before taking the step up to Registrar.The run is 6 months in length, after which you will move to the main House Officer team.
The role is Monday to Friday 0800
- 1600 hours and is categorised as a D Band.
You'll be part of a dedicated team providing comprehensive elective general orthopaedic services, as well as 24-hour Orthopaedic Trauma and Orthopaedic Emergency care.The scope of your work will be varied and will include exposure to a range of subspecialties including the following:Trauma surgeryJoint replacementSpinal surgeryPaediatric OrthopaedicsFoot and Ankle SurgerySports Medicine Orthopaedic SurgeryOccupational MedicineUpper Limb SurgeryThis role belongs to the New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective Agreement and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (STONZ) and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective AgreementAbout the LocationThe main cities and towns in the Southern District include Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown, and Wānaka.

You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at MCNZWe are interested in hearing from RMOs with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience and ideally an RMO who wants a career in Orthopaedics, however, we can consider those who are keen on an ED careerIt is requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC.
