About the role
As the Bar Supervisor for the Lumen bar, you will be a core player in providing an excellent experience for our patrons. With a fantastic selection of craft beers, and some of the most affordable prices in town, we strive to provide an experience like no other; bringing people together while supporting the arts.
The theatre environment is complex and requires you to be agile and easy to pivot where needed, to support the strategic vision of BATS Theatre. You will be joining a high performing core operations team.
The Bar Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Lumen. This is a hands-on role with key duties that include:- Open and close the bar, lead shifts and supervise/train staff
- Provide professional, warm customer service to patrons
- Oversee stock control, food collection and re-ordering
- Ensuring food and beverage standards are met
- Support sponsorship obligations
- End of shift waste management
- Night reporting
About you
Coming into this role, you must have:- A passion for the hospitality and arts industry
- Current duty manager and liquor licence
- Minimum of 2 years in running a bar
- A high work ethic, have initiative and be able to work transparently
- Inventory management
- Cash handling
- Reporting
- Excellent people management
- Income generation and sales management
- Experience with wine, craft beer and cocktail mixing
- Food hygiene and handling
What we offer
We have a Bar Supervisor position going plus an additional part time Bar Staff position going. The Bar Supervisor will be offered at a maximum of 30 hours per week with some flexibility and the opportunity for hours to increase over time.
Situated on Kent Terrace, we are close to plenty of bus routes and local eateries. The BATS whanau get discounted (and sometimes comp) tickets to the many shows we host. We also have staff discounts at some of our neighboring and iconic eateries in Wellington.
