Farm assistant /Herd manager
We are looking for a person to fill the role of farm assistant /HERD MANAGER the farm is located in outskirts of Tirau. 160 ha farm features a mix of flat, rolling and some steep contours. Milking 480 crossbred cows split calving through a 30 -bail rotary cowshed with in-shed feeding and protrack- system.Running system 3-4 on farm with a feed pad close to the shed.
Located just 10 minutes from Tirau and Putaruru, with great convenient access to schooling options. Rotorua, Tauranga, and Cambridge are also within 30 minutes - 1 hour drive from the farm.
The role's responsibilities:
Assist with milking and daily farm operations.Perform general farm duties, including cleaning cowshed, feeding cows, putting up fences and maintenance on farm equipment.
Ensure cleanliness and order in the milking shed and around the farm.
Operate farm machinery- 2 wheels, quad bike, and tractor efficiently and safely.
Feeding out on the feed pad and off (training will be given if needed)Monitor and maintain animal health and welfare practices.
Implement and adhere to health and safety protocols.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years on-farm experience.Reliable, honest, and positive attitude.
Works well within a team environment.
Strong communication skills, a practical mindset and the ability to work independently when needed.
Good understanding of animal health, welfare and safe machinery operating.
Must be drug free as the farm has NO drug Tolerance.
Passionate about the dairy industry and keen to grow within their farming career.
