Health & Safety Officer (Part-Time)

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused Health & Safety Officer to join our team in Dunedin. This is a part-time role, ideal for someone with strong knowledge of workplace safety practices who wants to make a real impact in the roofing and construction industry.
About the Role:You’ll play a key role in keeping our worksites safe, compliant, and well-prepared. You’ll develop and maintain health and safety systems, support our teams with training and advice, and help us foster a strong safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs and policies.
- Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to employees and management.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare reports.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand's health and safety regulations.
- Monitor safety records and performance metrics for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with safety committees and external consultants as required.
- Manage emergency response procedures and maintain safety equipment.
- Previous experience in a health and safety role (construction or roofing preferred).
- Relevant health and safety qualifications (NZQA Level 3+ or equivalent preferred, but not essential for the right candidate).
- Good understanding of NZ workplace health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify and manage risks effectively.
- A proactive, can-do attitude and the ability to work independently.
Working Hours: Part-time, flexible hours. Exact schedule can be discussed with the right candidate.
