Mechanical Design Engineer

Emirates Team New Zealand is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to become a part of our team. As the Defender of the America's Cup, we are committed to ongoing innovation and iteration of design elements to enhance the performance of our yachts.
Reliable and efficient mechanical systems are essential for the operation of our yacht. By creating more efficient systems, we achieve power savings that enable sailors to better trim the yacht. Any component failure could jeopardise a sailing day, whether it results in lost races or decreased training productivity.Additionally, our focus on continuous improvement ensures that designs will rapidly transition from computer screens to real-world testing and application on the water.
Responsibilities- 3D modelling in Siemens NX of composite structures and mechanical systems.
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components.
- Collaborate with the structures and mechanical teams on projects.
- Producing workshop drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- At least 3 years 3D CAD modelling experience, ideally in Siemens NX.
- Experience working in the marine industry is an advantage.
- A high level of accuracy and the ability to thoroughly self-check work.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- A reasonable knowledge of manufacturing processes both metallic and composite in order to know how to best dimension and present a drawing.
- Skills, dedication, and a desire to grow.
- The capability to collaborate effectively within a team while also demonstrating the independence to work without constant supervision.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, as required.
- The right to work in New Zealand.
