The Opportunity:

Do you hold the level 3 or level 3 & 4 horticulture certificates or posses comparable industry experience?
Are you keen for responsibility and autonomy in a role, where you can take charge of your day to day, make the position your own and collaborate with a strong team to help them improve their craft?
We have an exciting role available to join the team as a Gardening Team lead/Horticulture Lead.
A great opportunity for someone with a passion for gardening to be involved in a wide range of gardening and soft landscaping projects along with hard landscaping and other outdoor maintenance tasks in the mix from time to time. This role also involves 4-5 days per week (32-45 hours) to meet growing client demand in Wellington.
What You’ll Be Doing:
The job will include assisting with a variety of projects but primarily:- Gardening (garden maintenance, one-off tidy ups, section clearing, tree work and more)
- Soft landscaping (planting, soil improvement, mulching and more)
- Preparing planting plans and designs
- Choosing and purchasing plants from the nursery and retailers
- Teaching the team on a variety of skills, for example weed identification, correct pruning techniques and plant pest and disease identification and control to name a few
- Oversight of health and safety practices including proper use of PPE
- Management of gardening equipment by sharpening blades as appropriate, taking powertools in for servicing when required and buying new tools as and when needed.
- Other associated tasks and responsibilities reasonably expected under a horticulture lead umbrella
In addition, there will be times where assistance will be needed with hard landscaping functions within the business and other outdoor services such as waterblasting, house washes and rubbish removal.
Every day will bring something different, keeping your work varied and interesting.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who is:- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A team player who enjoys working alongside others.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable, with a great attitude.
- Willing to get stuck in and take pride in their work.
- Comfortable working as part of a close-knit team and happy to help out wherever needed.
- Full driver’s licence required, and ability to drive a manual vehicle.
- Able to meet at our base and occasionally travel to job sites.
- Gardening experience essential.

Remuneration based on experience.
4 day weeks negotiable if desired for the right candidate (to enable greater work/life balance).
