About the Role

This fixed term Project Manager role works principally to support our Acute Flow programme to improve performance against ED and Acute Flow health targets. You will be assigned to projects within the programme of work and will be responsible for managing them from planning stages through to completion.

You will work with key stakeholders to identify and implement required changes and systems to support them.

A core component of the role is working with clinical teams and external agencies to implement new processes and update digital systems to enable greater efficiency and data collection. Experience working with digital systems within the health industry is desirable.

While candidates with project management experience is preferred, people with a project coordination or strong health administration experience may also be considered.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Whanganui Hospital serves a semi‑rural population of approximately 68,395 across Whanganui, Rangitikei, and South Ruapehu. Our community has a high proportion of Maori (27.3%) and growing Pacific and Asian populations. We are committed to ensuring equitable access to screening services and strengthening connections with our communities.

You will work closely with the PMO project team and a wide range of clinical staff members at Whanganui Hospital.

The community we provide care to is semi-rural - rural with Maori making up 27.3% of our population (compared to the New Zealand average of 16.6%) and small but growing populations of Pacific and Asian people.

About you

You will bring strong project management and/or coordination experience, excellent planning and organisational skills, and confidence working with digital information, data and reporting systems. You will have highly developed communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships across clinical, community, and national stakeholders.

A strong commitment to equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action is a essential, as is attention to detail, cultural competence, and a values‑based approach.
