Te Rourou Whakatipuranga is seeking a passionate Graduate or In-Training Early Childhood Teacher to join our hapu-based early learning centre in Bluff.

Situated on the grounds of Te Rau Aroha Marae, our centre offers a truly unique learning environment where tikanga, kawa and kaupapa Maori guide our everyday practices. Our team is committed to supporting the revitalisation of te reo Maori and embedding our hapu and iwi aspirations within a localised curriculum.

This role will be part of our Pangore & Pepi team, working alongside tamariki aged 8 months – 3.5 years. The position is 25 hours per week, with hours flexible to suit the centre’s rostering needs between 8.30am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be available when needed.

You will be supported by a dynamic and dedicated team of kaiako who are passionate about whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and ensuring the wellbeing and success of our tamariki and whanau.

What we offer:
  • A supportive and collaborative teaching team
  • Competitive pay rates
  • Opportunities for professional learning and growth in a kaupapa Maori context
  • A chance to contribute to a unique local curriculum grounded in hapu identity, tikanga, and kawa
  • Strong whanau and community connections through our marae-based setting
Who we are looking for:
  • A graduate or in-training kaiako (ECE qualification or currently studying towards one)
  • Someone who is flexible, motivated, positive and eager to learn
  • A commitment to te reo Maori and tikanga Maori
  • A passion for nurturing tamariki through kaupapa Maori approaches
  • Someone who shows initiative, communicates confidently, and builds strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whanau, and colleagues.

We welcome applications from graduates and students currently in training, with the expectation that students will complete their study and become fully qualified within 18-24 months.

Nau mai, haere mai – come and be part of our whanau and kaupapa.
