About the Role
As a Patient Support Security Worker, you willensure that we continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment for the Emergency Department Wairau Hospital, at times you will be requested to work within departments and wards to keep patients and staff safe.. As a Patient Support and Security Worker you will focus on working with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their whanau accessing our services.
As this is a casual position, there are no fixed/guaranteed hours of work. However, the more available you are the more shifts you'll be offered. No on-call is required.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.

About you
As a Patient Support Security Worker, you will be:
- the type of person who works in a rational and calm manner,
- someone who has the skills and experience to effectively de-escalate difficult situations and promotes a safe and therapeutic environment,
- able to relate well to patients and their visitors,
- able to work with the clinical team and follow directions.
Previous experience in security, or a related industry is preferred. However, this is not essential as training will be provided.
Additionally, you will have:
- empathy and a non-judgmental attitude towards patients and members of the public
- the ability to relate with ease to people from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds
- the ability to recognise and pass on issues that may affect patient welfare
- a good level of physical fitness and mobility.
