About the role
Our approach to procurement is to empower our staff to carry out their own procurement adhering to our procurement policy and the delegations assigned to each position. Your role is to be a trusted advisor.
You'll do this by:
- building relationships across the organisation,
- building expertise across a wide range of procurement scenarios, including roading, construction and supply contracts.
- ensuring our policy and good practice processes are followed
- planning, monitoring and reporting on procurement activities across the council
- providing advice and support to the procurement committee
- chairing and supporting tender evaluation panels
- managing our GETS listings
This is a fixed term role, covering a secondment situation until approximately June 2026.
About you
Working with us you'll get experience with a wide range of businesses. We will value your knowledge of what a good procurement process looks like and your enthusiasm for coaching others to follow the process.
You'll need to show us that you:- have significant experience across procurement processes including Planning, sourcing and contract management
- ideally have a qualification in procurement such as CIPS qualification (or similar)
- great communication skills, thriving on building and fostering exceptional working relationships
- have the ability to build trust across the business quickly
- have excellent customer service and stakeholder management skills
- are detail oriented, and understand the importance of accurate and complete documentation.
