About the Role

Opportunities for training and non-training registrars.

Registrars are provided with a comprehensive and diverse range of training experiences. There are runs in inpatients, rural, community, crisis response care, child adolescent psychiatry and older adult mental health services, and addictions.

A role where you will assess mental and physical states of patients, provide preliminary diagnoses and treatments, and contribute to the development of comprehensive mental health services across facilities whilst collaborating closely with a psychiatrist.

Training Registrars participate in the Lower North Island RANZCP registrar programme and attend the teaching programme for trainees based in Porirua, Wellington. They are well supported by the local training facilitator in addition to consultant psychiatrist supervisors.

A total of 9 RMOs share the afterhours.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz.
  • Completed PGY2 or equivalent.
  • Keen interest in psychiatry
  • Empathetic and sensitive to support patients and their families
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
