Hot Roast Meals is a well-established local takeaway shop in Hamilton, specialising in traditional roast meats, hearty family packs, sandwiches, and hot sides such as potatoes, vegetables, and gravy. We are known in the St Andrews community for delivering consistent quality, generous portions, and friendly service.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking, and serving a variety of roast meats (lamb, beef, pork, chicken) and hot side dishes according to the menu and portion standards.
• Ensuring consistency of taste, appearance, and food presentation.
• Carrying out bulk preparation, cutting, slicing, and portioning ingredients for efficient service.
• Following strict food hygiene and safety standards, including temperature checks, allergen management, and kitchen cleanliness.
• Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment such as ovens, warmers, and slicers, and ensuring they are in safe working order.
• Working efficiently during busy periods while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Assisting with stock control, storage, and minimising wastage.
• Collaborating with other kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth order flow and timely service.

• At least 1 year of proven experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Strong skills in roasting, hot food preparation, and food safety compliance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle bulk cooking, and meet service deadlines.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Basic English communication is required; NZ Food Safety Certificate is an advantage (or must be willing to obtain).
• Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand (visa support may be considered for suitable candidates).

• Competitive pay: $26 – $29 per hour depending on experience and performance.
