Part time Poultry farm worker
This is a hands-on role. Tasks include but are not exclusive to the following. Daily shed checks, 3 x times daily. Picking up dead birds and culling rejects.,. Recording relative data daily. Weekly weighing of stock. Recording results.
The daily turning of litter from approx. 10 - 28 days is expected. Regular mowing of the house and farm areas is required. General farm tasks to be expectedNo experience is required, however total reliability, a willingness to learn and a high work ethic is a must.
The position is Permanent Part time expected 3 hours daily 12 days on 2 days off.Good communication skills in English are critical.
Due to the nature of the industry any shed emergencies after hours will need to be attended.
To compensate for the after-hour requirements there is a 3 bedroom Lockwood home with ensuite bathroom, lifestyle block provided to the suitable applicant. Free water is also provided; A cell phone is provided for work related issues only as it serves as the link between the alarm monitoring Company and the holder of the phone.
Although the tasks required are fairly basic we expect the suitable applicant to undertake training as required to meet the requirements of MPI who govern the operations of livestock in NZ..Historically this has been a farm share position:
There is another farm with 2 sheds, 13 mins away, requiring a similar workload. The offer is the same requiring 3 x hours per day, 12 days on and 2 off. This ensures a reasonable income at 6 hours per day. A reliable vehicle is required to enable transport to the secondary property
Minimum adult wage to start. Fuel allowance available from the secondary employer.Would suit as a top up position.
