Tasks will be:
  • Order and receive kitchen and foodstuffs supplies for making menu items.
  • Conduct stock-takes and quality checks to ensure supply and quality are maintained.
  • Prepare, season, cook an and correctly store gravy and curry bases, garnishes and preparatory materials as required.
  • Cook and present food items for restaurant sales, functions and catering bookings.
  • Cook and present food items to cater to special dietary needs of customers.
  • Supervise associated kitchen work as required and train staff as required.
  • Be responsible for the overall quality of food preparation, presentation and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Ensure correct maintenance of temperature, efficient and smooth operation of the Tandoor and other kitchen equipment.
  • Liaise with Manager in regard to repairs, safety issues or any other matters relating to the kitchen and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with cost of production assessments, portion sizing and recommending selling prices.
  • Recommend new recipes and menu additions from time to time.
  • Complete temperature maintenance and other general administrative tasks relating to the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Understand and work in a manner that OSH and food and hygiene compliance is maintained at all times.
The right candidate will:
  • Have hands-on experience in a commercial Indian kitchen environment is essential
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a kitchen specializing in Indian cuisine required
  • Must have excellent cooking skills to prepare and deliver Indian, Mughlai, Tandoori dishes
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 30 hours each week – maximum 45 hours
  • Must be flexible to work rostered shifts including late nights and weekends
  • Must be reliable and punctual
  • Be fit to enough to lift upto 20kgs
  • Able to pass drug, alcohol and Police check

No education qualifications required for this role. However, a relevant qualification + the right attitude will be considered a plus!

We Offer: A competitive hourly wage rate of $ 28 per hour.

A minimum of 30 hours of work per week. Maximum 45 hours.
