JVD Construction Ltd is a fast-growing, dynamic construction company delivering high-quality residential projects throughout the Auckland Region. As we continue to expand, we're on the lookout for a driven and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our professional and passionate team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and detailed cost plans, including Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for budgeting and project control.
  • Monitor construction costs throughout the project lifecycle, including progress payments, cost reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Evaluate and negotiate variation orders (VOs) and manage the impact of design or scope changes on project costs.
  • Prepare tender documents, analyse contractor bids, and participate in procurement and contract negotiations.
  • Draft and manage contract documents for both main and subcontractors, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct replacement cost assessments for insurance and prepare tax depreciation reports when required.
  • Manage payment applications from subcontractors and ensure compliance with payment procedures.
  • Support final account preparation and participate in project close-out negotiations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Provide cost control and commercial advice to project teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as asset owners, architects, engineers, developers, and financiers to ensure alignment on project objectives.
  • Travel to project sites when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
  • Level of knowledge dealing with standard NZ construction contracts such as NZS 3910:2013
  • Be familiar with NZS 4202 measuring standards, schedule of quantities
  • Strong organisational, multi-tasking, and reporting skills
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Quality-conscious and proactive
  • Committed to adding value to clients and the business
