ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Cafe Manager to take the reins and lead our team to consistently deliver Supreme hospitality, food and (of course) the best coffee in town, all while supporting the brand, and representing the purpose, vision and values of Coffee Supreme.
As the heartbeat of our cafe, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the customer experience, fostering a positive work environment, and driving operational excellence.

SOME OF THE KEY DUTIES INCLUDE- Setting the strategic direction for the cafe, including designing and executing a full marketing plan of events and activations designed to foster a community of loyal regulars
- Fostering a customer-first culture, consistently delivering outstanding service
- Overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow
- Leading and inspiring a diverse team, promoting a collaborative and positive work environment
- Managing inventory, controlling costs, and optimising cafe profitability
- Plan and design kitchen and cabinet menu
- Carry out budgeting and financial reporting/reviewing of the cafe
- Implementing and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety
- Maintaining a coffee and food offer that reflects the high quality standards of Coffee Supreme
- Recruiting, training and developing staff
- Continuous performance management, reviews and check ins with staff
- Create and manage staff rosters according to labour costs
- Maintaining a healthy team engagement and wellbeing
- Ensuring the site and equipment are maintained to the highest level
- Liaising with suppliers, setting prices and negotiation for best deals
- Ensuring the site is compliant with all food safety and health and safety regulations.
- Implementing and maintaining FCP to meet council local requirements
- Maintaining documentation and licensing in line with local council regulations
- Staying updated on industry trends, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation
- Social Media Management
ABOUT THE PERSON
To join our team you'll need to have a genuine love for coffee and get excited about creating exceptional hospitality experiences for people.
You will have need to have proven management experience and an existing knowledge of coffee. It's important that you are able to take ownership of all aspects of running the cafe and work autonomously as you will be remotely managed.
We're a small team, and we all work together to get stuff done - we all wash dishes, clear tables, make coffee and share ideas - so you'll need to be happy to be a team player who leads from the front and contributes wherever needed.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Genuinely enjoy connecting with people and making their day
- Have a minimum of 5 years proven management experience in a Cafe or Restaurant role
- Have minimum 5+ years experience in a barista role/2 years in a chef role.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Passion for coffee and commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
- Knowledge of inventory management and cost control
- Strong financial and business acumen
- Must have flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends, holidays and evenings as required
- Have event management experience
- Understanding of specialty coffee and various brewing methods
- Ability to network with the local community and build a brand
- Identify with the Coffee Supreme brand and values.
- Be a team player and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be well presented
- Must have a valid NZ work visa or NZ residence
- Excellent command of the English language
- Must have a valid LCQ
- This is a full time, permanent salaried role
- The salary is $60k - $70k depending on experience
- The cafe is currently open 6 days a week and you will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. based on the roster.
