We’re looking for a highly motivated, independent practitioner with lots of energy, an outstanding communicator with the ability to build rapport quickly with any individual or group and be effective working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.The successful candidate will be patient and family/whānau-centred in their approach, experience working with Māori patients in a hospital setting as well as experience working with whānau Māori in the community will be preferred.
You will be skilled in therapeutic engagement and will undertake psychosocial assessments and risk assessments. You will have experience working with grief and loss, crisis intervention, complex problem solving, and providing emotional support.Please click here for position descriptionAbout the Team/Service/LocationThis position will allow you to have the opportunity to provide consultation to the multi-disciplinary teams on how to incorporate Social Work principles and the Māori Model of care into patient care to enhance clinical outcomes for Māori patients and their whānau.For more information on living and working in Waitematā click hereAbout you· It is essential that you have understanding and affinity with te Ao Māori and have social work experience in the health sector of working with Māori clients and whānau· Current New Zealand Driver’s License· Experience gained in an inpatient hospital setting and in the community is preferred· The successful applicant will have experience of working therapeutically with people experiencing ill health, grief and loss and managing complex social issues.· A social work degree and registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board including a current Annual Practising Certificate is required.
