Fleet Manager

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Manager to oversee and manage our vehicle fleet operations. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient procurement, maintenance, utilization, and coordination of vehicles while maintaining compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
Job Details:
Pay rate:$30.00 to $35 per hour
Hours of work:Minimum 30 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week
Minimum eligibility:NZQF Diploma or 3 years of relevant work experience
Key duties and responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet, ensuring timely and efficient pickup and delivery of parcels across designated routes
- Plan, optimize, and monitor delivery routes to maximize efficiency, reduce fuel costs, and meet strict delivery timeframes
- Coordinate vehicle allocation and driver schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak courier demand periods
- Manage the maintenance, servicing, and roadworthiness of courier vans and delivery vehicles to minimize downtime and ensure reliability
- Monitor driver performance, delivery metrics, and service standards to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Liaise with clients and business customers regarding delivery requirements, service expectations, and resolving delivery-related issues or complaints
- Oversee parcel handling processes to ensure goods are transported safely and securely, maintaining their condition throughout transit
- Coordinate the collection and dispatch of courier items, ensuring smooth loading, unloading, and sorting operations
- Maintain accurate operational records, including delivery logs, vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and compliance documentation
- Ensure all operations comply with transport regulations, health and safety requirements, and company policies
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance delivery efficiency, reduce delays, and optimize fleet utilization
- NZQF Level 5 Diploma or higher qualification OR 3 years of relevant work experience
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance, fleet operations, and logistics coordination
- Ability to analyse data and prepare reports to support operational decisions
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to compliance and safety standards
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle operational challenges effectively
