We are seeking dedicated Support Workers to join our Taranaki team. At Community Connections, we believe in doing things collectively, driven by our unwavering passion for empowering people with disabilities to live the lives they choose.

About Us

Community Connections is a values-driven disability support provider working across the North Island. Our vision is an inclusive Aotearoa, where disabled people are respected, supported, and free to live life on their own terms, within the community they choose.

We are proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunities employer, committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the New Zealand Disability Strategy. We warmly welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially those with lived experience of disability or mental health, Maori, Pasifika, and LGBTQIA+ communities.

The Role

We are searching for passionate individuals who are enthusiastic about supporting people with diverse needs. We provide enhanced support for those living with long-term physical or mental health conditions, intellectual disabilities, sensory impairments, and/or high and complex behavioural needs—helping them to live their best lives and reach their full potential.

As a Support Worker, you will have the privilege of walking alongside people in the community—empowering them to build independence, grow essential life skills, and gain greater confidence in their everyday lives.

You’ll be part of a caring and collaborative team providing 24/7 residential support. The people you’ll be working with lead active and energetic lives, enjoying community connections, nature, walks, swimming, technology, and a variety of activities both at home and in the wider community.

They thrive in structured environments with clear boundaries, forming strong and positive relationships with those around them. Your role will be key in creating a safe, engaging environment where they feel supported and encouraged.

We have a variety of shifts available, and ask that you note your availability in your application and cover letter. As the roster includes weekends and some sleepover shifts, flexibility is essential.

About You

Ideally, you will have experience providing personal care, along with strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. Experience supporting people with disabilities, autism, or challenging behaviours will help you deliver tailored, person-centred support.

You’ll need to maintain clear routines while staying adaptable, resilient, and quick-thinking. A great sense of humour, patience, and a true passion for helping people thrive are essential.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in personal care, particularly with individuals who have challenging behaviours, autism, and intellectual disabilities.
  • A strong understanding of positive behaviour support strategies.
  • The ability to follow support plans and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to empowering individuals to live their best live

Why Join Us?

At Community Connections, you’ll be part of a values-led team that is passionate about making a positive difference every day. We are committed to your personal and professional growth and will support you to achieve your Level 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing.

We value the incredible work you do and offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Weekend pay rates
  • Mobile phone allowance
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

Please note: A full NZ driver’s licence, legal right to work in NZ, and clear police and Oranga Tamariki checks are required.
