About the Role
We are seeking a casual staff member to join our team at Matariki Continuing Care Food Service to help out as and when required to cover leave of other staff members
As this is a casual role, you do not have set hours and will be called as required. You may be offered rostered shifts and duties, between 6.00am 8.00pm and may include weekends public holidays which are paid at T1.5
This casual role will include a variety of tasks and you may be working in the Production kitchen, Trayline, Patient wards or in the Cafes.
Key responsibilities:
- Serving patient meals on the tray line
- Washing dishes using a commercial dishwasher
- Delivering meals to patients
- Making beverages for patients
- Matariki cooks meals for the community via ‘Meals on Wheels'

About the Team/Service
Matariki is a Continuing Care Facility at Te Awamutu in the Waikato Region.
As part of the Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service, Matariki cares mostly for post-acute patients who have been inpatients at Waikato hospital and need time to recover prior to discharge home.
Matariki Continuing Care has a rehabilitative focus and cares for palliative patients at the end of their lives.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has exceptional customer service experience preferably in the hospitality sector as you will be working with patients in a healthcare environment
- Can show care and empathy towards our patients
- Has a high standard of personal presentation as you will be the face of our service in the wards
- Is extremely reliable and with a great attendance record
- Has the ability to work unsupervised and within a team
- Available at short notice
To be successful in this role you must have a current NZ work permit and be able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English.
Previous work experience related to the position would be an advantage.
Preference will be given to those who have achieved related NZQA unit standards.
