Rehabilitation Coach - Christchurch
Permanent position available - 72 hours per fortnight.
Are you interested in working with clients to achieve independence, inclusion and quality of life after a brain injury? We have an exciting opportunity for a Rehab Coach to join our Rehabilitation team.
Te mahi angitu - The opportunity
With recent growth in our community services, we have a position in our Rehab Coaching team. You will support clients/kiritaki to achieve their goals and maintain their independence in daily life by supporting them to undertake age-appropriate activities in the community.
A day in the life of a Rehab Coach varies from day to day, but may include supporting clients/kiritaki to:
- Carry out a gym or pool programme,
- Meal prep for the week, and set a budget for their weekly groceries
- Find volunteering opportunities or groups in their local area
- Participate in our in-house Reconnect Groups
- Cook a meal for themselves and their family
- Explore new activities related to their interests in their local community
- Set a daily routine and use strategies such as planners and schedules to carry out their routine
- Learn a new skill
Our team work Monday to Friday within business hours, so no shift or weekend work is required.

- Have a qualification in NZQA Level 4 in Brain Injury, Level 4 Health and Wellbeing or equivalent.
- Have a full valid driver licence and the ability to drive a van
- Have experience working with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or as a Support Worker
- Able to work as part of the team as well as independently
- Able to communicate effectively- both written and spoken
- Good computer skills
- Be able to work with a range of clients on their individual goals. This will include clients with challenging behaviours, physical conditions and complex social backgrounds.
- Be able to maximise independence of our clients whilst encouraging choice, initiation and participation in activity
- Have the ability to demonstrate efficient time management and be part of a team
- Previous experience working in a rehabilitation setting would be an advantage
