Senior Baker

We’re on the lookout for a Senior Baker to join our growing team at Workshop Bread Company.

This is a hands-on role for someone who really knows their bread and genuinely loves the craft. The kind of person who has solid knowledge, great instincts, and a natural curiosity to keep learning and refining. If you have solid professional baking experience and a real interest in the craft, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and bake a variety of products, particularly sourdough, showcasing your knowledge and expertise in traditional techniques.
  • Execute baking tasks efficiently and consistently, maintaining the high standards we’re known for.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to sanitation and food safety guidelines that align with our commitment to quality.
  • Collaborate with the wider baking team to ensure the ongoing success of our bakery.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the team regarding ingredient needs for our unique sourdough and pastry creations.
What we’re after:
  • Minimum 3 years’ baking experience (qualification a bonus).
  • Extremely strong knowledge of sourdough fermentation, shaping, and baking.
  • Pastry experience (mixing, blocking, sheeting) is a plus.
  • Reliable, detail-focused, and genuinely interested in exceptionally good bread.
  • Available weekends (Sat/Sun).
  • Own transport for early starts; a full NZ licence is handy.
