Block/Brick Layer

**Reports To:** Site Supervisor/Project Manager

• Lay bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials to construct walls, partitions, arches, and other structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate construction.
• Mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, and other materials using appropriate tools.
• Cut and shape bricks or blocks to fit specific designs or patterns.
• Ensure structures are level, plumb, and aligned using levels, plumb bobs, and other tools.
• Collaborate with other construction professionals, including carpenters, laborers, and supervisors, to ensure project completion.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
• Assist with site cleanup and preparation as needed.

• Proven experience as a brick/block layer or similar role in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in using masonry tools and equipment (e.g., trowels, levels, jointers, and saws).
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in construction environments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred).
• Relevant certifications or trade qualifications (e.g., NZQA Level 4 in Masonry or equivalent) are a plus.
• Team player with good communication skills.

• Work is primarily outdoors, subject to weather conditions.
• Requires lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working at heights.
• Full-time role with potential for overtime during peak project periods.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided and required on all job sites.
