**Role Overview**
As a Senior Automotive Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our workshop operations—handling complex diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance across a range of vehicles. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and ensuring every job meets our high standards of workmanship and safety.
**Key Responsibilities**- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on passenger and light commercial vehicles
- Working directly with customers to troubleshoot and rectify concerns
- Perform routine servicing, brake and suspension work, engine repairs, and more
- Managing time requirements for repairs and customers
- Use advanced diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot faults
- Liaise with service advisors to provide accurate assessments and repair timelines
- Guide and support apprentice and junior technicians
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Stay up to date with evolving automotive technologies and best practices
- Trade qualification in Automotive Engineering (e.g., NZQA Level 4 or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technician role, ideally in a dealership or high-volume workshop
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Familiarity with modern vehicle systems including EVs and hybrids is a plus
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Full driver’s license
- A proactive attitude and commitment to quality
