About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fabricator/Welder to join a leading local steel fabrication company on a temporary basis, with opportunity for ongoing work for the right candidate.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy workshop environment and is keen to be part of high-profile commercial and industrial builds across the Hawke’s Bay region.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel components from engineering drawings
- MIG weld to a high standard (other welding processes are a plus)
- Assemble and fit heavy steel sections for structural projects
- Operate fabrication machinery including presses, punches, and cranes
- Conduct quality checks and ensure precise tolerances
- Follow all workshop safety procedures and site protocols
- Experience in structural steel fabrication and MIG welding
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings
- Welding tickets are an advantage but not essential
- Reliable, safety-focused, and detail-oriented
- Confident using workshop tools and heavy machinery
- Gantry crane, forklift or working at heights tickets a bonus
- Full NZ driver’s licence preferred
- Immediate start with a respected steel fabricator
