About the Role
Starship Children's Hospital, the leading tertiary hospital for child health care in Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand), is accepting expressions of interest from experienced Palliative Care Paediatrician for a casual role. This is a unique opportunity to work with an experienced and professional Paediatrics team in a broad variety of practice within a tertiary children's hospital.
The Starship Palliative Care Service provides specialist paediatric palliative care to children with serious illness (life-limiting or life-threatening conditions) and their whanau across the Northern region (Te Toka Tumai, Counties Manukau, Waitemata Te Tai Tokerau).The Palliative Care Paediatrician is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing children who are patients within the service.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Based at Starship Hospital, Grafton, we are a friendly, hard-working and motivated service that provide expert assessments and interventions for children and adolescents and their family/whanau attending the Starship Services. Our team consist of senior medical officers, nurse specialists, a psychotherapist, a social worker and team administration.

About you
As a qualified Palliative Care Paediatrician, you will:
- Have a Post-graduate training and experience in Paediatric Palliative Care
- Eligible for specialist registration in New Zealand as a paediatrician.
- Recognised qualification in paediatrics with a general scope of practice
- an interest in the holistic and medical management of Paediatric Palliative Care patients.
Whilst working closely with the interdisciplinary team, the ability to work autonomously in a multi-cultural environment is essential. The environment is one of a high degree of teamwork and collaboration, with a focus on equity and upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
