Contribute to transforming the future of health in a rewarding role focused on making a difference Permanent, full-time role based in Auckland Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders About the RoleWe have an opportunity available for a Public Health Medicine Specialist (PHMS) to join our experienced, and supportive Northern regional team.The primary purpose of this role is to provide professional leadership for the delivery of public health/population health alongside other PHMSs across the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Northern region.

The role provides public health medicine advice and guidance around the delivery of a cohesive, effective, and equitable health system to ensure better health outcomes for the population.You would undertake the statutory duties and responsibilities of a designated Medical Officer of Health or work towards designation within six months of appointment and participate in an on-call roster.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

Driven and accountable, you are aware of your impact on others and are committed to continuously improving your leadership practice.Skills and ExperienceA medical degree (MBChB or recognised equivalent), as well as a master's in public health (MPH) with a current MCNZ Annual Practicing CertificateVocational registration in public health medicineBe eligible to be designated as a Medical Officer of HealthThe ability to work collaboratively and respectfully within a team and with a range of diverse stakeholdersCurrent New Zealand drivers' licenceThe ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups and the wider national and international communitiesThe ability to maximise the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to achieve the organisation's vision, purpose and goalsWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
