Sewing machinist

Classic Sheepskins is a long-standing New Zealand manufacturer specialising in premium sheepskin rugs and products. We are looking for a reliable and skilled Sewing Machinist to join our team on a casual basis.

You’ll be working with genuine sheepskin, sewing rugs and a variety of sheepskin products using Furcup sewing machines. This role sits within our production team and supports workflow as needed, with weekly hours varying between 10–25 depending on demand.

• Sewing sheepskin rugs and sheepskin products to production standards
• Operating Furcup sewing machines
• Ensuring accurate stitching and strong product finish
• Working efficiently while maintaining quality
• Supporting general production tasks when required

• Experience with industrial or specialty sewing machines (Furcup experience a bonus but not essential – training provided)
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
• Reliability, consistency, and a positive attitude
• Comfort working with natural sheepskin materials

• Casual contract with 10–25 hours per week
• Flexible scheduling within standard weekday hours
