We have an exciting opportunity for you! We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated supervisor to join our team and help create an exceptional experience for our valued customers.

Position:Retail & Hospitality Supervisor – Fulltime (35+hrs per week) – Permanent

Location: Matheson Cafe, 1 Lake Matheson Rd, Fox Glacier, South Westland, New Zealand

About Us: Matheson Cafe is a vibrant and popular Cafe ad retail outlet known for its high-quality beverages, delicious food, and quality gifts. Responsibilities: As a FOH and retail supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of the business. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  1. Customer Service Excellence: Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service to every patron, ensuring they have an enjoyable and memorable experience.
  2. Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate a team of baristas and Retail staff, guiding them to deliver high-quality service and maintain a positive and efficient work environment. Collaborate and liaise with the management to ensure efficiency.
  3. Shift Management: Manage the daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and ensuring the operation is adequately stocked with fresh ingredients and supplies. Ensure staff are performing to high standards and working in time-efficient ways.
  4. Supplier Relationships: Maintain existing relationships and build new relationships with product suppliers to enhance the product offering.
  5. Quality Control: Ensure that all food and beverage items meet our high standards of quality and presentation, always adhering to health and safety regulations. Ensure retail areas are attractively presented and stocked.
  6. Training and Development: Assist in training new team members, providing coaching and support to help them excel in their roles.
  7. Problem Solving: Address customer concerns and resolve any operational issues that may arise during your shift promptly and professionally.
  8. Upkeep and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized cafe environment, upholding our commitment to hygiene and aesthetics.
  9. Sale of Liquor/Health and Safety: Ensure all requirements of the Sale of Liquor Act are being adhered to. Train new staff on the requirements of the act. Ensure all health and safety requirements are met and a safe and supportive work environment is maintained.
Requirements:
  • 1 yrs. Previous experience in a supervisory role within the food, beverage and/or retail industry or relevant industry/management/leadership qualifications.
  • A passion for coffee and a strong knowledge of coffee preparation techniques is advantageous.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to handle busy periods and remain calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • This is a full-time position.
