Forklift Technician

MHS is an independent, NZ-owned materials handling specialist. We supply, lease and service a wide range of forklifts (with a primary range of Electric forklifts), attachments and warehouse equipment, and we back it with fast, local support for customers nationwide.
We’re growing and looking for an experienced Forklift Technician to join our team. You’ll diagnose, service and repair our customer and rental fleets both in the field and in our workshop.
What you’ll do- Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, mechanical faults (IC & battery-electric)
- Perform preventative maintenance, breakdowns and commissioning.
- Use OEM software/diagnostic tools, multimeters and laptops to fault-find.
- Complete job cards, parts usage and service reports accurately and on time with the ability to be IT savvy for digital platform (training provided)
- Communicate professionally with customers and uphold MHS safety standards.
- 3+ years’ forklift, heavy plant, agricultural or automotive tech experience (forklift strongly preferred).
- Solid diagnostics across electrical systems, hydraulics and engines.
- Confident with laptops/multimeters and reading wiring diagrams/schematics.
- Self-managing, safe, tidy work practices and great customer focus.
- Full NZ driver’s licence.
- NZ Citizen/Resident or valid work rights.
- Competitive pay (indicatively $35-$45/hr, based on experience) + overtime/after-hours allowances.
- Fully equipped service vehicle, phone, tablet, fuel card, PPE and tooling support.
- Ongoing OEM/product training (incl. lithium-ion, telemetry, attachments).
- Safe, supportive, and respectful culture with a small but great team.
