Produce manager

Our company is part of New Zealand’s premier Asian food retailer with over 30 years in New Zealand. As a growing company, we are looking for a bright, motivated Produce Manager to manage our produce department with attention to detail. As a Produce Manager you will be responsible for day to day running of the department, while meeting targets and KPIs.

The position is full-time (usually 40 hours per week with a guarantee of 30 hours per week) and permanent. Hours of work between 8.30am – 7-8pm Monday to Sunday. Hourly wage $30-32/hour depending on experience.
We are a busy place with lots of products and experience is essential.
Your duties will include:- Ordering, receiving, and stocking produce to maintain optimal levels while minimizing waste.
- Ensuring all produce meets quality standards for freshness, appearance, and safety.
- Effectively manager a team, delegate tasks, hiring, training, scheduling, motivating and supervising produce department staff. Managing workloads of team members.
- Creating attractive displays, implementing promotional strategies, and maximizing sales opportunities.
- Providing excellent customer service, select products, addressing customer inquiries and restaurant customers’ quotation.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing delivery terms and payment terms.
- Ensuring the produce department is clean, organised, and visually appealing.
- Manage inventory, monitoring sales, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability.
- Communicate effectively with staff, identify and resolve issues.
Requirements for this role: o At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
o Familiarity and/or experience with retail.o Be able and willing to work in a busy place.
o Be able to implement health and safety measures.
o Be physically fit – able to stand and work.
o Have a positive can-do attitude with willingness to grow the business.
o Be honest and reliable and be available to work.
