WHO ARE WE

Matamata Directional Drilling (MDD) is a small civil contractor, specialising in directional drilling. We install a variety of underground services, including power ducts, water & sewer PE pipe, and communication services. We take a lot of pride in our reputation to work well as a team to deliver above our customers expectations.

As an experienced mechanic, you’ll be the key person in charge of keeping our fleet running smoothly — from diesel trucks, trailers, utes and support equipment. This is a hands-on role working on the gear but is also trusted to manage the workshop, plan servicing, and stay on top of COF's and general compliance.

If you’re the type who likes making decisions, sorting your own day, and keeping things running, you’ll be right at home. This is a chance to make our workshop your own and where your expertise will make a real difference to the results of the team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THE ROLE
  • Complete repairs and maintaenance on our fleet, including onsite call outs when needed
  • Diagnose faults (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical)
  • Manage WOF/COF, RUCs and other legal requirements for operating fleet.
  • Coordinate suppliers and other mechnical contractors as required
  • Manage workshop operations (scheduling, parts, records)
  • Recommend and carry out improvements to fleet, workshop and yard set up.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Trade certified Heavy Diesel / Automotive
  • 5+ years experience in civil, fleet or trucking operations or workshops
  • General fabrication, auto-electrical and metal work knowledge an advantage
  • Knowledge of directional drills would be an advantage but not essential
  • Hold a class 2 lience as a minimum, Class 4 license an advantage
  • Good communication skills, prepared to take feedback and speak up if needed
  • Take health and safety seriously
  • Self starter who can work well with others in a small team.
WHAT YOU'LL GET AS PART OF OUR TEAM
  • Top of the range pay and annual bonus scheme
  • Gauranteed minimum pay 40-hrs per week
  • New workshop ute and funds to stock tools as needed
  • Open workshop with oppprtunity to grow and improve set up.
  • Experienced operational team, who respect the gear and have a down to earth culture

We aim to be a place with positive culture, where everyone can feel like they can go home safe having done a good day's work. If the description above sounds like it might be a fit, would be keen to talk more.
