Client Services Manager – Family Violence Services

  • Amuri Park, Christchurch | 40 hours per week
  • Make a real impact.
  • Lead with purpose.
  • Support teams doing life-changing work.

Aviva (incorporating Christchurch Women’s Refuge) is a well-established values-led organisation supporting whanau and communities to live free from family violence and sexual violence. Our work is grounded in aroha, pono and tika, with a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and social justice.

We are seeking an experienced Client Services Manager to provide clinical leadership, quality assurance, and operational oversight across our Family Violence services. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role supporting Team Leaders and frontline kaimahi who work with adults, tamariki and rangatahi across Canterbury.

About the role

Based at Amuri Park, this role is 40 hours per week, worked predominately Monday–Friday to meet service needs. You will be based at our offices in Christchurch, but there will be a requirement to travel across the Canterbury region.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will:

  • Lead and support multiple Family Violence service teams
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, and effective service delivery
  • Provide clinical oversight, risk management, and practice guidance
  • Strengthen systems, pathways, and quality assurance processes
  • Build strong internal and external relationships across the sector
You’ll work within a collaborative leadership structure that reflects what we advocate for our clients — shared responsibility, reflective practice, and collective care.
Key responsibilities
  • Provide clinical oversight and promote the paramountcy of tamariki and rangatahi safety
  • Support Team Leaders with complex practice, risk, and decision-making
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality assessments, safety planning, and record-keeping
  • Monitor service capacity, case allocation, and workload management
  • Lead quality assurance, audits, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to service development, research, and innovation
  • Participate in on-call clinical advice as part of a rostered leadership team
  • Build a culture of reflective, strengths-based and whanau-centred practice
  • Recruit, develop, supervise, and support Team Leaders and kaimahi

About you

You’re a confident, values-driven leader who understands both people and systems, and who can balance compassion with accountability.

You will bring:

  • Registered or qualified Social Worker
  • Membership of a professional body (ANZASW preferred)
  • 3–5+ years’ leadership experience in family violence or related social services
  • Strong understanding of family violence dynamics and complex practice
  • Experience working with adults, tamariki and rangatahi
  • Proven ability to lead engaged, effective teams
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written skills and confidence with reporting and compliance
  • Alignment with Aviva’s values and commitment to a life free from violence
  • Current full driver’s licence and willingness to travel across Canterbury

Why join Aviva?

Come and join our team to make a meaningful impact! You’ll make a real difference by supporting our kaupapa - working with those who have experienced violence and those who have used or are at risk of using violence. Together, we can help whanau and individuals break the cycle of violence and create safer, stronger communities.

  • Purpose-driven work that genuinely changes lives
  • Supportive, collaborative leadership environment
  • Strong clinical governance and professional support
  • Opportunity to influence service quality and future development
  • A workplace that lives its values — not just talks about them
